Thanksgiving, Community, and a Brief Black Friday WindowThanksgiving arrives before the rush of Black Friday, and I like the way these two moments sit side by side. One invites gratitude; the other invites choice. Both remind us that we are shaped by the environments we create, alone and together. In We Are What We Listen To, I write about how music builds community at the physiological level. When we sing or listen together, our breathing synchronizes. Our heart rhythms soften into a shared cadence. Oxytocin rises. Trust becomes possible. Music creates micro-communities — sometimes for a moment, sometimes for much longer. As we enter this week, I’m thinking about that invisible thread that connects us through sound. And I want the offers I’m opening now to carry that same spirit of connection and possibility. Let’s step into it.
