Tomorrow, May 11, is the International Day of Latin American and Iberian Art Song—a celebration of the vibrant, poetic, and emotionally rich repertoire written by composers from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula in Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan.

This date was chosen in honor of the great Colombian composer Jaime León, who passed away on May 11, 2015. His legacy reminds us of the importance of this vast and still underrecognized repertoire that connects us to our history, language, identity, and imagination.
